Driver

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Position: Driver
  • Pay Range: $17.28-18.00
  • Reporting To: ALWP Manager
  • Work Type: Fieldworker

POSITION SUMMARY

The Van Driver is responsible for picking up/dropping off Clients in the PSH Program to MD appointments, activities, outings, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Is a high school graduate or holds a Graduation Equivalency Diploma.
  2. Is fluent in English, bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
  3. Must communicate well via telephone, and have the ability to deal tactfully with the co-workers, visitors, clients and community.
  4. Possesses good verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Possesses good organizational skills.
  6. Must be able to take direction and function as a team member.
  7. Libertana Home Health Policy and Procedure Manual will be reviewed during Orientation.
  8. All policies outlined in the Procedure Manual will be adhered to.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Driver to perform Pre-Trip Assessment:
    • Equipment to secure client/wheelchair/walker/cane in place and in working order
    • Defects noted in security equipment
    • Web-belt cutter available for emergency evacuation
  2. Sensitivity Training
    • Speak to your clients at eye level (this may require squatting, or kneeling).
    • Ask if client would like assistance with securing their seatbelts.
    • Be mindful of clients with upper body issues, i.e. shoulder braces, etc.
  3. Safety
    • Video must be viewed regarding safe securement of wheelchairs/equipment and post-test completed.
    • Offer client assistance when boarding Van, as well as when exiting Van.
    • Driver must be on stand-by to assist clients that need or want help exiting the van.
    • Make sure all clients/passengers are securely seat belted before moving the vehicle.
    • Assist client with personal items, bags of groceries, etc. in/out of van.
  4. Familiarity with Title 22.
  5. Maintains comfortable work environment for all employees.
  6. Knowledge of Confidentiality, HIPAA and healthcare laws and regulations.
  7. Maintains proper timekeeping.
  8. Follows policies and procedures as per Employee Handbook.
  9. Maintains all credentials up-to-date.
  10. Reports Fraud and Abuse.
  11. Knowledge of mandated reporting.
  12. Conducts timely recording and/or documentation of client contact.
  13. Attends Department meetings (in person, by phone or by web).
  14. Attends all State mandated in service trainings.
